Joye's Brave Girl story began at a very early age, she was 15 and pregnant with her first child, 17 with her second, and by the age of 20, she had given life to her third child. There were so many uncertainties in her life, not knowing what type of life she was creating for herself. But amid the skepticism, her reverence for God and family was strong, and she understood the Power of strong faith. She was determined to relieve her mother of the guilt, shame, and embarrassment she placed on her family and, more importantly, her obligation to her three beautiful children. Therefore, looking into each of their eyes, she knew she had no other responsibility but to be brave and conquer the life she had created.

Joye was purposeful in changing the narrative and surviving teen pregnancy. She successfully graduated with her high school class, and while in college, she joined the City of Columbia Police Department, SC. At age 21, she started her career as a CPD Certified Police Officer. Within the same year, her dedication, strength, and resources allowed her to purchase a new home and car for herself and her children. Joye allowed the pressure of being a young mother to influence hope for her future.

The dramatic change from a young girl to an adult woman came with challenges. The life she built was on a solid foundation, but just like many others, she faced adversities, failed relationships, and disappointments. It was what she calls being "In the Thick of It," battling with parenting and marriage; she had only two options: them or me. Her decision was no surprise because she already knew what survival took.

"I choose me; I bet on me! I need them to love and respect me just as much as I love and respect them." Joye said.

The transformation process of evolving from what was into the powerhouse wife, mother, entrepreneur, and leader took mental and spiritual growth. Joye celebrates investing in self-improvement, the driving force for eliminating anxiety, stress, and depression, while choosing joy, pursuing happiness, and living as your most authentic self. She intends to use her experiences, insight, and influence to awaken every young girl and woman into manifesting a lifestyle that aligns with being their best version and a deepened relationship with God.

In February 2022, Joye birthed HEY Brave Girl Inc., an organization that supports and honors all brave girls worldwide: teen pregnancy, the teen or woman who struggles with adversities, guilt, identity issues, and no clear vision of life, and women who choose to connect with other courageous women.

Joye has set out to motivate every brave girl and woman by self-publishing HEY Brave Girl Manifesting Journal. The Bible instructs us to write out our vision, and she wants to inspire you to have a manifesting mindset and believe that God has a plan for your success and a strategy to conquer greatness. "Journaling can create, invite and empower you to live bravely and boldly."

Of all of Joye's accomplishments, she is most proud of the life she and her husband Howard have built and the loving relationship with their family. They share four beautiful and accomplished grown adult children and five grandchildren. They enjoy traveling together and splitting their time between South Carolina and Georgia.
